TRAFFIC ALERT REMINDER: Route 309 Northbound Closure 8/4-8/8
From the Borough of Quakertown:
PennDOT will be closing a section of northbound Route 309 through Quakertown Borough and Richland Township for pipe replacement work as part of a $15.9 million stormwater project. This closure is expected to cause extreme traffic and significant changes to traffic patterns throughout the Borough.
𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠: August 4-8, but hoping for only a 24-hour closure on Tuesday, August 5 (weather dependent)
𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The initial detour route provided by PennDOT is not feasible for large trucks, so an alternate detour has been established:
Broad Street/Route 313 → 4th Street → Mill Street → N. Hellertown Ave/Route 212 → Pumping Station Road → back to Route 309
𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐍𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬: To ensure access for emergency vehicles and allow large trucks room to navigate detour turns, temporary parking restrictions will be in place in the following areas:
North side of Broad Street from Main Street to 4th Street
East side of North Hellertown Avenue from Mill Street to Heller Road
Both sides of 4th Street
“No Parking” signs will be posted in all affected areas.
𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 & 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞: Due to increased traffic and to ensure the safety of our employees all trash and recycling routes will begin at 5:00 AM throughout the week. Please place your items at your normal pickup location the night before your scheduled collection day.
We know this will have a major impact on our community, and while we can’t reduce the traffic it will bring, the Borough is doing everything we can to keep residents informed and prepared. Reminders will be sent via call, text, and email, and updates are available on our website.
